Pre-orders open Friday 16 October at 11 pm AEDT in Sydney and Melbourne (10 pm in Brisbane, 8 pm in Perth; 5 am Pacific Time). The phone goes on sale and starts arriving Friday 23 October.
Australian pricing runs to A$5,899 for 2TB, and US pricing to US$3,199. It is eSIM only, and there is no physical SIM tray anywhere in the world.

Apple opens pre-orders at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday 16 October. Here is that moment in local time.

Why you are seeing both "10 pm" and "11 pm" quoted for Australia
Both are right, for different cities. Apple's Australian store lists the start as 10:00 pm AEST. But daylight saving starts in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania on Sunday 4 October, so by pre-order night the clock on the east coast outside Queensland reads 11:00 pm AEDT. Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so Brisbane stays on 10 pm. If you are in Sydney or Melbourne and log on at 10, you will be an hour early — which is the better mistake to make.
Delivery and in-store availability start on Friday 23 October in the US and more than 70 other countries and regions, including Australia, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore and India. A further 28 countries follow on Friday 30 October.
iPhone Duo price in Australia
The iPhone Duo costs A$3,499 for 256GB, A$3,899 for 512GB, A$4,699 for 1TB and A$5,899 for 2TB in Australia. If you were looking for the iPhone Ultra price in Australia, this is it: the phone launched as the iPhone Duo, and both colours cost the same.
Storage is the only thing that changes the price. Every tier gets the same A20 Pro chip, the same 7.6-inch inner and 5.4-inch cover displays, and the same cameras.

iPhone Duo price in the US, UK and Canada
In the US the Duo costs US$1,999 to US$3,199 (see the table above). In the UK it starts at £1,999, and in Canada it runs from C$2,999 to C$4,799.
At A$3,499 and up, the price pays for the folding 7.6-inch display, the titanium hinge and IP68 on a book-style foldable. It has no telephoto camera (the 2× option is a crop from the 48MP Fusion Main camera) and no Face ID.
What Apple still has not announced for Australia
As of 29 September, these are still blank. Some of them matter to the decision:
- Monthly pricing. Apple's Australian store references Afterpay but shows no per-tier monthly figure.
- AppleCare+ pricing for the Duo. On a foldable, this is the number worth waiting for (see below).
- Trade-in values toward the Duo.
- Carrier plans from Telstra, Optus or Vodafone.
- Australian prices for Apple's own iPhone Duo Case and Folio — US$79 and US$129 in the US.
- Any per-customer purchase limit.
Six things to sort before pre-order night
1. Your carrier has to support eSIM
The Duo has no SIM tray, anywhere in the world. It supports dual eSIM with two active lines. The major Australian networks support eSIM; some smaller providers do not, or only through a call to support. If you are on a budget provider, check this week, not on the night.
2. Decide your storage before 11 pm, not at 11 pm
Each step up costs more than the last: A$400, then A$800, then A$1,200. Apple's Store app lets you save a configuration to your favourites in advance, which turns checkout into a couple of taps. Sign in to your Apple Account and check your saved payment method beforehand as well.
3. Your Apple Pencil probably will not work — and none will at launch
The Duo is the first iPhone to support Apple Pencil, on both displays. But it supports only the Apple Pencil (USB-C), not the Apple Pencil Pro, and support arrives later in 2026, not on 23 October. If you own a Pencil Pro from an iPad, it will not help here.
4. Face ID is gone; Touch ID is in the side button
You unlock the Duo with your finger on the power button. That matters for your case: any case that covers the side button will stop Touch ID working. We explain why in our Touch ID case-design guide.
5. Your MagSafe accessories may not fit
The Duo charges at up to 25W on MagSafe and Qi2, so your charger will work. But the phone is only 117.8 mm tall when folded (shorter than any MagSafe iPhone before it), so wallets and battery packs designed around taller phones can hang off the bottom. Try what you own on day one before assuming it works.
6. Think about protection before the box arrives
The outer glass is Ceramic Shield 2. The inner display (the expensive one) is a custom polymer over glass, and Apple has published no repair pricing for it and no fold-cycle rating for the hinge. That is why AppleCare+ pricing is the Australian number we most want to see. We went through everything Apple did and did not publish in our hinge durability breakdown.
Should you pre-order at all?
Our honest read, as people who look at foldables for a living:

Neither column is a verdict. If you are someone who replaces a phone every year and wants the new thing first, pre-order. If you keep phones for four years and this one costs A$3,499, waiting for the first real-world durability reports costs you a week or two, and nothing else.
A case for day one
On 23 October, the only cases guaranteed to have been designed against real hardware are Apple's own. The iPhone Duo Case (US$79) protects the outside and leaves the inner display exposed when shut. The iPhone Duo Folio (US$129) covers the inner display and adds a kickstand. Australian prices for both are still unannounced.

Our Duo moulds were cut to Apple's published 117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm. We are buying a Duo on 23 October and putting calipers on it, and case pre-orders are not dispatched until the fit is confirmed against that unit. If the tooling is out, we recut it rather than ship you a case that does not fit.
